The Art of Female
Thursday, February 25, 2010

The next shot was a picture from the back side of 3 obese men sitting shoulder to shoulder in a diner eating their packages with syrup. It was a funny and exaggerated representation of men and woman's physiques but none the less the general consensus is that women are more vivacious then men.
Tip#1 The Job Of The Photographer Is To Make The Subject Comfortable
Shooting female form photography can be a bit nerve racking for both the photographer and the model especially if both are amateurs. The job of a photographer is to make the model feel as comfortable as possible. Try having refreshments or a light snack to calm the nerves. Make sure to keep the atmosphere fun, inviting, and professional.
Tip#2 Be Prepared For The Shoot
It is important to be prepared and make a list of the shots you would like to shoot. Having this list of shots will allow you to be prepared for any effect that you wish to convey. Nude shots can vary in flavors and can be sensual, romantic, abstract, artistic, or a combination of these moods. Good preparation means appropriate lighting, clothing, and props.
Tip#3 Sometimes more is more
In female form photography sometimes more is more. The model does not necessarily have to be completely nude to have a sensual shot. Often time draping the subject with a piece of linen as it flows over her body is very captivating.
Tip#4 Nude Photography Loves Soft Light
Soft lighting and dark foregrounds make for a very elegant and sensation female form photography. Soft lighting create a very alluring and seductive atmosphere and hides unattractive lines. If you are working within a studio you should use light diffusers, light reflectors, and drapes for the effect you wish to achieve.

Photo Restoration
Thursday, February 11, 2010
Did you realize that there are several different photo restoration techniques that are available? Each one has advantages and disadvantages, so you need to do some research before rushing out and giving your photos to the first service that claims to be able to help you restore your photos.
Photographs are precious possessions, so you need to understand what the photo restoration technique involves, and what will be required. Some techniques may actually put your photographs at risk if the technique is not done properly.
Chemical Restoration
In a chemical restoration process your photograph is actually re-exposed to developing chemicals. Sometimes this process involves first bleaching the photo, and then re-developing it. This process can reverse some of the oxidation that causes old photos to fade, but it also irreversibly alters the photo.
Chemical restoration should only be attempted by a trained photographic conservator. It is a highly technical process, the results are not guaranteed, and it can be very expensive.
Copying
One of the simplest and least expensive photo restoration techniques is simply copying the photo. By adjusting the contrast settings on the copy it is possible to improve the look of the resulting image.
While you can get some improvement, this restoration technique will only work on images with very mild fading, and it will not do anything to repair any damage to the photograph. What you will have is a darker copy of the original photo.
Airbrushing
Another photo restoration technique that is sometimes used is airbrushing the photo. In the hands of a skilled artist this technique can get very good results, but the technique can also be expensive. An artist will not only be able to add the necessary contrast to your photos, they will also be able to cover up blemishes to the photo.
The drawback of airbrushing is that any alterations are done to the original photo. If a mistake is made, it can be very difficult to undo. It is also not possible to cover up any physical damage to the photo with this technique. Repairing tears or punctures are beyond the scope of what airbrushing can accomplish.
Electronic
One of the best photo restoration techniques today is electronic restoration. By scanning your photo into a digital file repairs and alterations can be accomplished without any changes to the original photo. This technique makes it possible to repair tears and creases, reverse fading or other damage to the image, and add or remove color from the photo.
Electronic restoration can repair most any type of damage to your photo. If the damage is not that extensive the repairs can often be done the same day. The downside of photo restoration is that many printers are limited in the quality of photo print that you can get. However, many photo shops offer digital photo printing at a very reasonable rate.
Photo restoration makes it possible to recapture the memories that the original photo represents. Consider all of your options, and then chose the one that is right for you.

Picture Recovery From Corrupted Memory Card
Wednesday, November 4, 2009
Picture Recovery From Corrupted Memory Card -Picture loss from memory cards can result from several factors, such as intentional or unintentional deletion, accidental or purposeful formatting, removal of the card while the device is still on, turning the camera off before the completion of picture transfer, or corruption or damage of the storage device, among several others.
To safeguard pictures from loss, many digital cameras and computers offer a second chance with 'back' button, recycle bin, or a backup program. However, at most times, we are confronted with more serious problems which a simple data backup process cannot help. At such times we need to use some specially developed Picture recovery software.
A comprehensive Digital Picture recovery software recovers pictures, audio, and video files of almost all types of formats including jpg, jpeg, tif, gif, riff, tiff, and quicktime lost due to whatever possible causes from damaged, corrupted, or formatted storage media known to the digital civilization including digital cameras, memory sticks, IBM Micro Drives, SD Cards, MMC Cards, XD Cards, Secure Digital Cards, Zip Disks, Mini Disks and Windows based hard drives among others.
Photo Recovery v3.2 is non-destructive Digital Picture recovery software: it does not modify or overwrite the original data on your disk, but saves the recovered data on a user-specified location thus ensuring the keeping of the original files intact. Built with a highly interactive user-friendly interface, providing thumbnail view of recoverable files, enabling the user to select files which he would like to scan, and providing 'Event Log' of the recovery process, the software is self-explanatory making it easy even for first timers without any picture, audio, or video recovery experience.
Compatible with Windows (Vista, 2003, XP, 2000 and NT), and Macintosh operating systems, the software requires a system of Pentium class processor, 256 MB memory with a free hard disk space of 30 MB.

Photographic Contests
Tuesday, October 6, 2009
Photographic Contests-Are you always carrying a camera, just waiting for that special shot? You graduated from film cameras to a new digital camera. You took some lessons from the local camera club and feel you know your way around your equipment. You have even made a few trips into the field and have made some really great images. Now you are ready to take the next step.
What is that next step? You want to know if your work is as good as you think it is. The best way is to start by entering some local photography contests. That camera club where you took lessons, get an application and join. The cost is not going to break the bank. Once a member, you will be allowed to enter their photo contests.
Entering Photo Contests..
In the beginning the best you can hope for is a ribbon or two, but that will soon get old. There are a lot of photography contests available. Some offer large cash prizes, others nice professional photo equipment, while others offer scholarships to photographic schools. Winning these contests will not only bring nice prizes, but will usually get your work published in national magazines. This will give you publicity, plus portfolio pieces.
You need to select the field of photography you want to enter. There is a contest for nearly every niche you can think of. You will find contests for portraits, landscapes, animals, travel, astronomy, etc. You will have an area that you particularly like, stick with it until you feel you have won as many contest as you can. Next you will need to look for contests outside of your camera club. Google photo contests. You will find them listed throughout the world. Pick a few, and look at their deadline dates. Look at their requirements. Double check all of the rules. By not following the rules to the letter you will get rejected.
Check their fine print... Look for information on who retains the copyright to the image if you win. You want to retain your copyright and not give it away. Look to see what they will do with your image even if you are not the top winner. Some of these groups use the contest as a front to collect images and resell them. Just remember, if you enter the contest you have agreed to all of their terms and conditions. Last, but not least check the fee that is being charged to enter. Some of the contests charge fees that even I refuse to pay.
Photo Tips...
Even though you may be an amateur, you are going to be going up against some of the best in the world. Your work needs to be unique. It needs to be original and it needs to be interesting. There is nothing worse than looking at the same old image over and over. If you like your image don't hesitate to go back and re-photograph it at a different time of day, or different season. Look for different angles. Look for slight changes that you can make to improve your photography.
Also, if you have access to images of past winners, look at them and try and decide what made the judges pick that particular image. Next are the technical aspects of your finished entry. If you are printing and finishing the image yourself, make sure it is the best print you can produce. It has to be clean, no dust spots. It has to be mounted properly, no bubbles or bows in your mount board. If the contest says all images must be mounted on a piece of ¼ inch foam board, that is what they mean.
Lastly, shipping the print. When you are ready to send the print make sure it is packed securely. Make sure all the related paperwork is included, and don't forget the fee. When you ship, ship it by Priority Mail, if you live in the U.S. I have shipped hundreds of prints throughout the world and have never lost a print yet, and can remember only having one damaged slightly. Use click and ship at the U.S. Postal Service. It allows you to print out a shipping label at a discounted price. It also allows you to have the package tracked and you get an email message when the package is delivered.
Now you are not going to win every contest you enter, but you will learn how to make better photographs and get some publicity for your work. Good Luck.
Glamour Image
Monday, October 5, 2009
Glamour Image-Glamour is one of my favorite genres in photography. Boy, I am really loving it. But working as a photographer in this genre I sometimes have to pop myself the question: "Are these really glamour photos?" I believe we glamour photographers should know and be aware of the definitions of the genre we work in. Sure, we can and shout creatively freak out. We should stretch boundaries, break rules, shoot outside the box but then again, first of all we should know what exactly our box is.
Of course it is very subjective which photos fall into the glamour category and which not. My personal photographic lackmus test: Could this photo be printed in Playboy magazine? If yes, then it's most likely a glamour photo. I guess this test telegraphs my age a bit. You youngsters will rather ask: Could this photo be featured in the glamour gallery the Playboy Cyberclub website? And that's perfectly alright. The test result should be similar, even though I noticed that the cyberclubs go a little bit more into the softcore genre than the magazines do. In the cyberclub we find ourselves again at one of the boundaries: what is still glamour and where does softcore start?
So how can we formalize what makes a glamour image? I would say a glamour photo always emphasizes the beauty of the depicted model. Makeup, light, clothing and pose are chosen in a way that makes the model tempting and beautiful. I currently notice a trend that on more and more glamour photos private parts and nipples are not exposed anymore but covered by clothing or by shade.
If you as a photographer want to shoot excellent glamour photos, then a couple of steps are essential:
* care for perfect makeup
* use a high quality and subtle body oil, don't overuse it
* make a charming, 3 dimensional light, for instance softboxes from 45 degree angles
* try to get the model flirting with the camera
* care for a good retouch afterwards in photoshop
So, how about if you now approach your next model and start planning a photo of her which presents her as beautiful as humanly possible? You might start by replicating some really nice glamour photos that you find online and which your subject and you really like. Use them as a posing guide and replicate the light that make those photos shine. Once you are done with those, then you creatively go crazy, leave the common themes and shoot outside the box. There are good chances that a couple of photos from your shooting will be just stunning. It will make your model proud, it might make you proud, it might get you a lot of nice comments from you online buddies and most of all - it will be fun.
Photo Editing Software
Sunday, September 27, 2009
Photo Editing Software-For beginners, try to select a photo editor that begins with a trial version. Of course the trial version should convey a good introduction to the full version of the software and try to select a photo editing software that can handle with a couple of click of mouse and add good characteristic to your photos you desired.
It is better also if your photo editing software is user friendly and carries all kind of photos like jpg, bmp, gif, and png and you should also consider that the software could easily locate the photos on your hard disk by dragging the photos into the main interface of a photo editing software and then add your own photos with your desired background or template then apply some effects like mask, adding some cartoons and clip-art, outline, borders, frames and text etc.
And the last things you should consider are, if your photo editor lets you rotate your images, resize it, brighten up them with cartoons, text effect and clip-arts, etc and lets you decorate your own images the way you want it and lets you save also your decorated photos as wallpaper, you need to consider also that the software has a lot of beautiful template you need to apply for your images.
The trial version of photo software comes with a 30 day evaluation period and its free to use but after 30 days you need to buy a license key to use the software as a full version without any limitation. It means you have enough time to evaluate and to learn on how to use the photo editing software and how beautiful it is when you decorated your own photos using the software.
Oval Picture Frames
Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Oval Picture Frames-Now that you have selected the oval frame you want, it is time to prepare your picture to fit into the frame. There are a few steps you need to take to ensure your picture will look its best in your new oval frame. Following these steps will make the process an easy one.
1. The first step is to remove the glass and backing from the oval frame to expose just the oval frame. Next, place the frame over the picture to get a feel for how the picture will look in the frame. When you are satisfied with how the picture looks, it is time to move onto cutting your picture to fit your oval frame.
2. Carefully lift the frame from your picture and position the oval glass where the frame was. Adjust the placement of the glass until you are satisfied with how the picture looks within the oval. Be very careful when adjusting the glass over the picture as you don't want it to scratch the image.
3. Once the glass is placed where you think you want it, check to be sure the picture is centered and will be straight in the oval frame. The image in the picture should not be tilted or you will have a lopsided picture. Whatever the object of your photo, it is important that the overall spacing in the frame is centered horizontally and vertically. You want the person or couple in the center of the frame, not off to one side. A helpful hint for vertical spacing is to have the person's head 2/3 of the way up from the bottom of the frame. That way the spacing at the top of the frame will fit with the rest of the picture alignment.
4. Once satisfied with the placement of the picture, gently trace a thin line around the glass onto the front of the picture with a ball point pen. Do not use a marker pen as it will bleed onto your picture, and a sharp pen or pencil may scratch your picture. Use a sharp pair of scissors to cut along the traced oval line. To avoid leaving a rough cut edge or possibly damaging your picture do not use a dull pair of scissors.
5. Clean the glass with a lint-free cloth and allow it to dry before placing your picture into the frame. Once all that is done it is time to put the frame and picture together.
6. Most frames come with backing, but if your frame did not, you can create your own using cardboard or archival mat board. Using the frame as your template, you will need to place the frame face up on the cardboard/mat board, slide the pen underneath the frame and trace around the edge of the frame. Cut the cardboard/mat board and assemble your oval picture frame.
7. To complete your frame (if you made your own backing), small brads (about 1/4" long) can be gently pushed into the wood siding of the frame to secure the backing.
8. Most high quality frames include the hanging hardware you need, but it is wise to ask the frame retailer to be sure they are included.
Hopefully these steps will help you prepare your picture with ease and encourage you to use oval frames to help decorate your home.
